J!Research ist eine Komponente für Joomla!™ 1.5 welches es erlaubt Forschungstätigkeiten wie Publikationen, Projekte und Dissertationen - welche in Forschungsbereichen kategorisiert werden - zu verwalten. Diese Erweiterung ist für Forscher an der Universität und Forschungsabteilungen konzipiert welche Joomla! als ihr Content-Management-System wählen oder anwenden um ihre Forschungen zu publizieren.

J! Research beinhaltet folgende Features und Funktionen:

• Automatische In-line Zitierung und Generierung von Literaturverzeichnissen
• APA, MLA, und IEEE Citation Styles
• Bibutils 3.x Integration
• Publikations Import/Export in MODS, RIS und Bibtex Formate

Die Entwicklung der J!Research Komponente geht über GSoC 2008 hinaus. Die geplante Roadmap sieht wie folgt aus:

• Chicago und Vancouver Zitatformat (v1.1)
• Teams-, Kooperations-, Einrichtungs- und Geldgeberverwaltung
  
• Multi-Lingual Support (JoomFish Integrierung) (v1.2)
• Filterung im Backend - für Mitarbeiter, Einrichtungen und Dissertationen.
